CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Madi Ryan scored seven points to help the Hoosac Valley girls basketball team jump out to a 19-10 first-quarter lead, and the Hurricanes never looked back, beating Monument Mountain, 53-43, on Monday night.

 

Ryan finished with 14 points. Fallon Field led the 'Canes with 15, and Kailynne Frederick added 10.

 

Anika Helmke and Hailey Higgins led the Spartans with 13 apiece.

 

Hoosac Valley (11-1) plays Hingham on Saturday evening in the Coaches Vs. Cancer Classic in Cheshire. Monument (5-5) will be there as well, taking on Hampshire in the event's nightcap at 7:30.
