Summers, Stetz Help Lift PIttsfield Past Drury
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Kyana Summers and Madison Stetz each had a double-double on Monday to lead the PIttsfield girls basketball team to a 51-39 win over Drury.
Summers finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds and just missed a triple-double with eight assists as the Generals improved to 13-4 with their third straight win.
Stetz scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Harolyn Castillo led Pittsfield with 15 points.
Castillo and Summers each scored five points in the fourth quarter, when the Generals outscored the Blue Devils, 14-9, to break open a seven-point game.
“Such a tough one to lose by 12,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “The girls fought the entire game to keep it close but then ran out of steam at the end. Stinks that the system will mark this as a blowout because it was far from that. Girls were great – breaking the press and executing our game plan.”
Brooke Bishop led Drury with 13 points. Ashlyn Hayden and Eva Moser added six points apiece.
“Ultimately this is another game that we can’t look at the final score,” Downey said. “We just need to know that it is preparing us for the post-season. We competed with the best team in Berkshire County and one of the best teams in D3. If we play like we did tonight, we will be a tough out in the tournament.”
Drury (6-11) plays its final regular season game on Wednesday at home against Lee.
Pittsfield is at Northampton on Wednesday to finish the regular season.
