Drury's Defense Smothers Mount Greylock
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Hannah LaCasse scored 10 points, and Drury pitched a shutout in the first quarter of a 41-15 win over Mount Greylock on Monday.
“The thing I was most pleased about was our effort in the defensive end,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “I thought we made Greylock take tough shots all night. You are going to have off shooting nights. When that happens your defense needs to pick you up, and we did that. We are going to go as far as our defense this year, so it was nice to see us locked in for four quarters tonight.”
Lily Mirante scored 18 points, and Jacinta Felix and Delaney Hayden finished with six points apiece in the win.
Mount Greylock got seven points from Mia Filiault and five from Tanley Drake.
The Mounties (5-6) are at Wahconah on Thursday.
Drury (6-5), which ended a two-game slide, is at Hoosac Valley on Thursday.
“[The Hurricanes] are probably playing their best basketball of the season, so it’s not going to be easy going into their gym,” Downey said. “But I believe in my team, and that they will be ready for the challenge.”
