Wahconah Girls Hold Off Monument Rally

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Lily Pudlo scored 12 points, and Maddie Sprague had 11 to lead the Wahconah girls basketball team to a 45-44 win over Monument Mountain on Saturday afternoon.

 

Monument (9-4) outscored the visitors 16-10 in the fourth-quarter, but Wahconah held off the comeback by scoring six from the line in the final eight minutes.

 

Katie Dumas went 4-of-4 at the charity stripe down the stretch for Wahconah (8-6) and finished with nine points.

 

For the Spartans, Vanessa Troiano scored 17 points -- six on 3-pointers -- and Anika Helmke had 11.

 

Things don't get any easier for the Spartans on Monday, when they travel to Pittsfield to try to snap a two-game losing streak.

 

Wahconah takes a two-game winning streak to Taconic on Monday.
