Pudlo Leads Wahconah Girls Past Lenox
LENOX, Mass. -- The Wahconah girls basketball team got back on track with a 57-22 win over Lenox Monday evening after its loss to Pittsfield this past Friday.
Wahconah got a quick lead on Lenox, putting up 20 points to Lenox’s five in the first quarter. It was able to hold onto to the lead the remainder of the game and went into half-time ahead, 35-15.
“You know, every lead’s not secure,” Wahconah coach Liz Kay said. “We worked on a lot of stuff, especially because we have some really tough opponents coming up, a lot of it was just being very consistent across the board, across all quarters to make sure we were playing as good as we can play.”
Wahconah pressured the Millionaires all night long and beat them on the boards, both offensively and defensively, which led to their scoring opportunities.
Defensively Lenox switched back and forth between zone and man, presenting a challenge for Kay's team.
“They switched the defenses quite a bit,” Kay said. “I think that’s something we need to recognize a little bit better.”
Lily Pudlo finished with 12 points for Wahconah. Katie Dumas and Julia O’Connor each had 10, and Maddie Sprague had nine.
For Lenox, Jackie Hathaway finished with eight and Makayla White had seven.
Wahconah (6-4) prepares to take on 9-1 Hoosac Valley on Thursday evening at Hoosac Valley High School at 7 p.m. Lenox travels to McCann Tech on Thursday.
