This week's iBerkshires.com/Southwestern Vermont Health Care Athletes of the Week have their teams heading into the holiday week off a pair of exciting victories.

Patrick McLaughlin scored as time expired on Thursday to give Wahconah a 55-53, come-from-behind victory at Westfield.

McLaughlin scored eight of his 26 points in the fourth quarter as Wahconah overcame a six-point deficit for the road win.

Close games have been the rule for Wahconah, which has seen three of its five contests decided by one possession.

McLaughlin, the all-time scoring leader at the school is averaging nearly 30 points per game to keep his team competitive.

On Wednesday, Wahconah (2-3) will look to even its record when it hosts East Longmeadow.

The Pittsfield girls are off until Friday when they head to Mount Greylock -- plenty of time to rest after a knock-down, drag-out battle with Hoosac Valley on Friday.

Pittsfield came out on the right side of that one, 66-60, and sophomore Madison Stetz is a big reason why, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds against the Hurricanes.

"Maddie knows how to play her role, as big, and she's only a sophomore," Pittsfield's Charlotte Goodnow said after the win. "And she's only a sophomore. She'll do good in her later years."

So far this year, Stetz Leads the Generals in points with 12.4 per game and rebounds with 8.2 per game.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Southwestern Vermont Health Care.
