Hoosac Valley Girls Advance Past Mount Everett

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Averie McGrath scored 17 points Friday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls basketball team to a 41-19 win over Mount Everett in the first round of the Division 5 State Tournament.

 

Taylor Garabedian scored seven, and Gabby Billetz added five for the Hurricanes, who led, 27-10, at half-time.

 

Emily Steuernagle scored 12 to lead Mount Everett, which got five from Emma Goewey.

 

The Eagles finish the season 9-13.

 

Top-seeded Hoosac Valley (19-3) will host next week’s Sweet 16 game against No. 17 Georgetown, a 53-43 winner over Tahanto on Thursday.
