Canales Leads Way as Hoosac Girls Qualify for State Tourney

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Annie Canales hit three 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 13 points as the Hoosac Valley girls basketball team beat Mount Everett, 78-14, on Monday night.

 

Sarah Field hit three 3s and Averie McGrath scored eight points in a 34-6 first quarter.

 

McGrath and Abigail Hugger finished with 10 points apiece.

 

Emily Steurernagle scored eight to lead Mount Everett.

 

The Eagles (1-9) go to Monson on Wednesday.

 

Defending state champion Hoosac Valley (10-3), which qualified for the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament with the win, looks to improve its tournament seeding Thursday when it visits Monument Mountain.
