TURNERS FALLS, Mass. – Jaelynn Walker returned to action and scored 19 points Monday to help lead the Taconic girls basketball team to a 58-37 win over Franklin Tech.

Walker shot 7-for-9 from the foul line as Taconic won for the second time in three games.

“It was a huge lift getting Jaelynn Walker back, who had been battling the flu,” Taconic coach Jason Conuel said. “But that time away has allowed our younger players to get more confidence in themselves.”

Evellyn Croce hit a pair of three points and matched Walker with 19 points. Jalana Smith and Kiannah Josephs scored nine points apiece.

Taconic jumped out to a 19-10 lead in the first quarter and was up, 31-16, at half-time.

Franklin Tech played even in the third, but the Thunder put the Eagles away in the last eight minutes.

“It was a hard-fought game,” Conuel said. “We handled their pressure in the fourth quarter and got the shots we wanted.”

Taconic (3-8) hosts Monument Mountain on Thursday.
