TURNERS FALLS, Mass. – Emma Goewey scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds Monday to lead the Mount Everett girls basketball team to a 46-38, come-from-behind win over Franklin Tech.

Mount Everett responded after trailing, 14-2, at the end of the first quarter.

“We played timid, scared, and had 11 turnovers in the first quarter and lacked confidence,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “We had a true heart conversation in between the quarters, and the girls lit a fire in the second scoring 22 points to tie at the half.

“We ran well off ball movement and seeing the floor, and the three-headed combo of Maggy [Sarnacki], Emily [Steuernagle], and Julia [Devoti] stepped up after the first. Our bigs of Olivia [Goewey], Aliyah [Creamer], Makayla [Carpenter], and Emma started to dominate down low, grabbing offensive boards and limiting Franklin Tech’s second chances.”

Steuernagle scored 10 points, and Sarnacki added nine.

The Eagles (5-4) go to Southwick on Thursday.
