Ware Tops McCann Tech Girls on Senior Night
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Ware defeated the McCann Tech girls basketball team, 55-43, on Monday evening.
With one game remaining on its schedule, McCann coach Mike Dowling is happy about the young team's improvement throughout the season and looking forward to next year as he isn't losing any of his players.
"I expect improvement the whole year, they hustled and they were red faced, that's what what we need," Dowling said.
In the third quarter McCann had Ware's lead within six points (34-28) with 1:30 to go, that was the closest they came all game.
In the fourth, the Hornets got themselves in foul trouble; which is when Ware was able to pull away making their shots from the foul line to take the win.
McCann recognized two seniors who are a part of the junior varsity team. Makayla Cote and Patricia Fletcher just joined the McCann basketball program this season and started in their first varsity game; Cote finished the game with five points and Fletcher had two.
"They played, they both scored and I think that lifted the team up as well," Dowling said.
Allie Gibeau finished the game with 18 points, nine of them which came in the third quarter to put McCann down by six and Jordan Budaj and Kelly Dobbert each had six.
