McCann Tech Girls Dominate Mohawk Trail
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Faith Brazeau scored 13 points to lead three McCann Tech players in double figures as the Hornets beat Mohawk Trail, 42-30, on Saturday night.
Aiden Champney and Amaya Todd scored 10 points apiece in McCann Tech’s second win in three games.
“Aiden Champney had a monster night with a triple double, collecting the triple of the double with steals: 10 pts, 11 boards, and 12 steals,” McCann Tech coach Justin Kratz said. “It was a great effort by all of the girls and they really played with a lot of heart and intensity. Faith Brazeau was all over both ends of the floor.”
Brooke Reynolds scored six points in the win.
The Hornets jumped on top with a 10-3 first quarter and held off the visitors in the fourth, outscoring Mohawk Trail, 14-8, to preserve the win.
Todd scored six points in the fourth to help put the game away.
The 30 points for Mohawk Trail was a season low for a McCann Tech opponent.
“Our press is starting to develop a bit, and girls are getting more comfortable and their recognition both of what we are trying to do and what the other team is doing is improving,” Kratz said. “This was our first first wire-to-wire win – up seven at half and the pressed them starting in the third. We were able to extend the lead to 17 at one point in the fourth.”
McCann Tech (2-10) goes to Southwick on Monday.
