Boisvert Leads Way as Hornets Snap Streak
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Hannah Boisvert scored 16 points, and the McCann Tech girls basketball team Thursday held visiting Bay State Academy to one point in the fourth quarter of a 43-28 win.
McCann Tech coach Justin Kratz said the key to victory was containing Bay State’s Lizmarie Sanchez, who averages 24 points per game. The Hornets held her to just 15 points, and Boisvert was a big part of that equation, he said.
“Hannah was awesome,” Kratz said. “Sixteen points, a ton of blocks, a ton of rebounds, and she played [Sanchez] one-on-one defensively quite a big, even though [Sanchez] is a guard. Hannah’s length made life difficult for her.”
Aiden Champney scored eight points, and Faith Brazeau and Amaya Todd each scored seven in the win.
“Amaya Todd played a solid all around game and helped our younger squad with her leadership,” Kratz said. “Aiden Champney got two quick fouls and sat most of the first half but gave us a nice spark in the second half. Faith Brazeau brought a ton of energy and aggressiveness, so it’s good to have her back in the lineup.”
McCann Tech (2-11), which snapped a six-game skid on Thursday, is at Southwick on Monday.
