NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Drury girls basketball coach Ian Downey challenged his team to not have a repeat of last year’s road loss at Brattleboro, Vt.

The Blue Devils responded in a big way, scoring 22 first-quarter points en route to a 61-33 win over the Colonels.

“Obviously we didn’t know much about them, but we talked about wanting to run on them to not only get easy points but to see if they could keep up with us,” Downey said. “I thought we executed our fast break very well which jump started our offense.”

Brooke DiGennaro scored 24, and Hayley Shook added nine as the Blue Devils got back to the .500 mark at the midway point of the season.

“We have a quick turnaround against a good Lenox team,” Downey said. “We need to carry this momentum into [Tuesday’s] game because with no practice to prepare and it being a league game, it’s a big game for us.”

Drury (5-5) will look for its third straight win when it hosts the Millionaires on Tuesday night.
