NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Cara Dean scored 15 points, and the South Hadley girls basketball team outscored Drury, 15-5, in the fourth quarter to earn a 47-33 win on Monday night.

“Only being down four going into the fourth [quarter] was probably not what most people had on their bingo cards, but the girls played hard enough to put themselves in a good position, going into the final quarter,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “I think when I look back at the film, it’s not gonna be for lack of effort or execution. It’s going to be just not making shots.”

Ashlyn Hayden scored 11 points, and Jacinta Felix had nine points to lead Drury.

“I couldn’t be more proud at how hard my girls competed against PHS last week and South Hadley tonight,” Downey said. “It was a tough schedule to end the regular season but I think it was important for us to play in these games to get ready for tournament play.”

Drury (9-9) waits to learn who it will face in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C Tournament.
