NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Madison Stetz Wednesday scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Pittsfield girls basketball team to a 60-48 win over Drury.

Harolyn Castillo had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Generals won their fifth straight game and third game in three nights.

Drury coach Ian Downey said that the final margin was not indicative of how well his team played.

“That’s the best team in Western Mass,” Downey said of the Generals. “They are a team that is going to get you out of your comfort zone. It took us a few minutes to get used to their speed and physicality, but to my girls credit, they settled in and competed.”

Pittsfield broke the game open with a 24-14 second quarter to take a 39-26 lead into half-time.

Castillo scored eight points in the second quarter to help her team get a working margin.

Drury cut into that margin with a 13-4 third quarter that saw Jacinta Felix (11 points) and Lily Mirante (16 points) each make a 3-pointer.

In the fourth, Pittsfield pulled back ahead with Stetz leading the way.

She went 7-for-8 at the free throw line and scored 15 points in the final eight minutes. For the game, she made 12 of 14 at the line.

Kyana Summers passed out four assists for Pittsfield (15-1), which hosts Mount Greylock on Friday.

Drury (8-8) finishes the regular season at home against Pioneer Valley on Friday and against South Hadley on Monday.

“We played at a level that can make a deep run in the tournament,” Downey said of the Blue Devils. “We need to continue to stay at that level, both in practice and in games, and if we do, I think we can make some noise once postseason play begins.”
