AGAWAM, Mass. – Marlee Montagna scored 12 points, and the Agawam girls basketball team took a big lead early en route to a 46-36 win over Drury on Friday.

Agawam outscored the Blue Devils, 16-5, in the first quarter and took a 30-16 lead into half-time.

“First half we came out flat, and had way too many turnovers,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “Defensively we can’t give up 30 points in a half and expect to win. That being said, the girls fought hard in the second half.

“Defensively we were much better and did a much better job rebounding the ball. It was really a tale of two halves. We play defense like we did in the second half, in the first half, we are right in the game.”

Norah Wood and Jacinta Felix each scored 10 points to lead Drury.

The Blue Devils (4-3) go to Monument Mountain on Monday.
