SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Isabella Meadows scored 17 points Thursday to lead the Pope Francis girls basketball team to a 51-45 win over Drury.

Eden Kornacki scored five for the Cardinals in the third quarter, when they outscored Drury, 14-7, to take a 38-32 lead.

“I thought our energy and confidence was awesome in the first half,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “We unfortunately didn’t come out of the half well and that’s on me. If we survive that third quarter I think we have a chance to steal one tonight.

“We’ve had so many games this year where it was just one quarter that doomed us. I know we have it in us to put four quarters together to beat a good team. We are trending in a good direction but have a very tough schedule clocking up. I have confidence in them that we will battle these last few weeks, and we will finish the season strong.”

Brooke Bishop led Drury with 13 points. Jacinta Felix and Ashlyn Hayden chipped in with nine points apiece.

The Blue Devils (6-6) host Hoosac Valley on Monday.
