AGAWAM, Mass. – The Agawam girls basketball team Tuesday outscored Drury, 14-2, in the fourth quarter to earn a 45-37 win in the Blue Devils’ season opener.

“Tough to lose a winnable game,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “We had a lead late but just couldn’t get good looks to fall in the fourth. Credit Agawam for making plays down the stretch.”

Jacinta Felix scored a game-high 13 for Drury, which got seven points from Brooke Bishop and six from Delaney Hayden.

“We lost four key pieces to our rotation so our inexperience reared its ugly head tonight,” Downey said. “But I liked our effort. As a coach I can live with a loss as long as we competed, and I thought we did tonight.”

Drury (0-1) goes to Monument Mountain on Saturday.
