Maloney, Defense Key Lee's Tourney Opening Win

LEE, Mass. – Caroline Maloney scored 23 points Monday to lead the second-seeded Lee girls basketball team to a 69-35 win over Duggan in the Western Massachusetts Class D tournament.

 

Carina Brown scored 18, and Brianna Kelly added 10 in the win.

 

“We were able to get offense off of our defense and came out running,” Lee coach Rick Puleri said. “We played very aggressively on defense and it helped a lot. Our seniors carried us tonight with a great effort.”

 

Lee (15-4) hosts Mount Everett on Wednesday in the regional semi-finals.
