PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Kymani Harley scored eight of his game-high 28 points in the first quarter as the Pittsfield boys basketball team Monday jumped out to a 22-11 lead en route to a 77-51 win over Hoosac Valley.

“We needed this game after a tough loss at Drury,” Pittsfield coach Brandon Mauer said. “We came out locked in on defense and shared the ball well on offense. Kymani Harley came out and shot the ball really well and his aggressiveness gave us a great boost.”

Joe Cracolici scored 14, and Sam Higuera and Craig Jackson added seven apiece for the Generals.

Three players finished in double figures for the Hurricanes. Izaha Stubbs led the way with 13, and Carson Meczywor and Sam Larabee each scored 11.

“Hoosac didn't go away easy and played a good first half and even first couple minutes of the second when it looked like they were going to make a run,” Mauer said. “A couple baskets put us back up 20, and that’s about where it stayed from the beginning couple minutes of the second half.”

Pittsfield (8-3) goes to Northampton on Friday.

Hoosac Valley (5-4) is at Renaissance on Wednesday.
