Steinman, McDonough Lead Pittsfield Boys into Western Mass Semis
PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Jerry McDonough scored 15 points, and Scott Steinman added 14 to lead the Pittsfield boys basketball team to a 75-57 win over Quabbin in the Western Massachusetts Division 2 quarter-finals on Thursday night.
Chad Shade scored 12 -- including a dunk that electrified the crowd at Moynihan Field House.
Connor McDonough scored seven of his 10 points in the first quarter as the third-seeded Generals (16-5) took control of the game, jumping out to a 19-10 lead after one quarter.
It was 39-26 at half-time after Steinman led the way with eight in the second quarter.
Pittsfield moves on to the sectional semi-finals, where it will meet No. 7 South Hadley (13-8) next week.
South Hadley advanced on Thursday with a 77-73 upset win over second-seeded Shepherd Hill.
