SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Kyle Cardoso scored 23 points Saturday to lead the Pittsfield boys basketball team to a 67-48 win over Shea High School of Pawtucket, R.I., in the Hoophall Invitational at Putnam High School.

Cam Zerbato scored 14, and Bri’Awn Thompson added 13 for the Generals (7-4), who got nine points from Freddy Conyers in advancing to Sunday’s bracket title game against Burlington, Vt., an 85-75 winner over Scarsdale, N.Y., on Saturday.

“The whole team played with a toughness and edge,” Pittsfield coach Jerome Edgerton said. “We battled hard on the glass, and I couldn’t be prouder of these boys. The game was close throughout until we pulled away in the late third quarter into the fourth.”

Cardoso went 5-for-6 at the line and scored eight points in the third quarter, which also saw Thompson score seven.
