Brown, Spartans Roll Past South Hadley
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Manny Brown scored 37 points, and the Monument Mountain boys basketball team Tuesday showed its depth in an 85-60 win over South Hadley.
Brown scored 23 points in the first half as the Spartans stormed out to a 46-27 lead.
But it was not a night without some adversity for Monument Mountain.
“Isaiah Keefner went out early in the second quarter with a wrist injury and the flu, and Dom Calautti was strapped with two fouls and didn't play the last 5 minutes of the second quarter, but the Spartans didn't miss a beat as Finn Mason and Finn Wheeler filled in very nicely,” Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. “I was really proud of how Isaiah tried to gut it out tonight and really proud of how our guys played for 32 minutes.”
Griffin McElroy made six of his seven shots from behind the 3-point line on his way to a 19-point night, and Dom Calautti scored 10 points in the win.
Monument Mountain (11-1) goes to Wahconah on Wednesday.
