Wellenkamp, Carlson Lead Spartans Past Wahconah

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Khalil Carlson scored 25 points, and Kyle Wellenkamp added 22 Monday to lead the Monument Mountain boys basketball team to a 74-60 win over Wahconah.

 

Griffin McElroy and Manny Brown each scored 11 in the win.

 

The Spartans jumped out to a 26-13 lead in the first quarter, when Wellenkamp hit three of his six 3-pointers.

 

"Big time credit to Griffin McElroy, who not only scored 11 points but did a solid job defensively," Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. :We were very good on the defensive end holding Wahconah to 20.points in the first half."

 

Carlson finished with 15 rebounds and six assists to go with this game-high 25 points.

 

Brody Calvert scored 23 to lead Wahconah, which got 17 points from Pat McLaughlin.

 

Wahconah (2-1) hosts Renaissance on Dec. 29.

 

Monument Mountain (3-0) goes to Drury on Wednesday.
