Manchester-Essex Boys Stop Wahconah in D4 State Tournament
MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA, Mass. -- Eddie Chareas Saturday scored 21 points to lead the Manchester-Essex boys basketball team to a 61-34 win over Wahconah in the Division 4 State Tournament.
Sam McLaughlin scored nine points to lead Wahconah, which was held to just 17 points through the first three quarters.
"A bit of a perfect storm tonight," Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. "They shot the ball at an incredible percentage with many contested shots, and we struggled to score even when we were able to get good looks."
Aidan Hagmaier and Evan Alfonso each scored seven points in the loss.
Wahconah finishes the season with a record of 9-13.
"After a tournament loss, it is easy to focus on that one game, but as I think about the season as a whole, I am proud of the way we competed and battled to get into the tournament," Belcher said. "I am especially grateful and proud of the seniors on this club that set the tone everyday and worked so hard. We have 11 guys back next year, for them I am excited, the future is bright."
