Hoosac Valley's Waterman, Lenox's Green Earn Athlete of the Week Honors
This week’s iBerkshires.com/Bedard Bros. Athletes of the Week had a busy school “vacation” week, helping their teams go a combined 5-0.
Lenox’s Aimee Green went 3-for-5 with four RBIs in a 20-4 win over Lee to start the week as the Millionaires picked up their first win of the young softball season.
Green then followed that up that performance with an even bigger hit in a very different game, Lenox’s 4-3, come-from-behind win over Drury in North Adams.
Green’s two-out double in the top of the seventh drove in the tying and winning runs for Lenox, which looks to improve to 3-1 on Tuesday when it hosts Lee.
While some teams feel fortunate to have just played a few games in one of the more challenging spring seasons in recent memory from a weather perspective, the Hoosac Valley boys lacrosse team nearly has clinched a spot in the post-season.
And senior Nicholas Waterman is a big part of the reason why.
Waterman scored 14 goals over the spring vacation as the Hurricanes won three games to improve to 7-0 this spring.
He scored six in a blowout of Springfield Central to start the week.
Then then followed up with four goals and two assists in a 10-8 win over Wahconah, a team that beat Hoosac twice by a combined score of 25-8 in 2017.
Finally, Waterman scored four more goals and assisted on a pair in Saturday’s win at Taconic.
Hoosac Valley faces perhaps its biggest test of the season on Monday when it goes to Mount Greylock.
