McGovern Leads Hoosac Valley Past Bay State

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Joey McGovern Monday scored 25 points to lead the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team to a 74-45 win over Bay State Academy in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class D Tournament.
 
McGovern hit five 3-pointers in the first half for the Hurricanes, who jumped out to a 20-4 lead after one quarter. Hoosac Valley put the game away with a 24-7 third quarter to take a 50-24 lead.
 
Trevor Moynihan hit a pair of 3s, and Qwanell Bradley scored six points in the third.
 
Bradley and Frank Field each ended up with 13 points. Moynihan scored 12.
 
Top-seeded Hoosac Valley (17-2) Wednesday will host No. 4 Monson in the regional semi-finals.
