Hopkins Boys Come back to Beat Hoosac in Regional Semi-Finals
HADLEY, Mass. – Teddy Cyr hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left to put the Hopkins Academy boys basketball team up five, and it hung on for a 57-51 win over Hoosac Valley on Wednesday in the Western Massachusetts Class D tournament semi-finals.
Hoosac Valley led by eight in the third quarter before it hit a scoring drought, allowing Hopkins to climb back into it, taking a two-point lead into the fourth.
Joey McGovern led Hoosac Valley offensively with 21 points, including three 3-pointers. Qwanell Bradley scored eight, and Kamarion Kastner added seven.
The Hurricanes finish the regular season with a record of 13-7 and learn Saturday who they will meet in the first round of next week’s state tournament.
