Santos Leads Taconic Back to Sweet 16

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Ceasar Santos scored 16 points Friday to lead three Taconic players in double figures as the Thunder beat Oakmont, 55-45, in the first round of the Division 3 State Tournament.

 

Martin Boua scored 11, and Kyle McGrath added 10 for Taconic, which jumped on top right away with a 17-8 first quarter.

 

Oakmont got within six going to the fourth, but Santos scored four in the fourth to help the Thunder pull away.

 

Jamal Sistrunk scored nine points in the win.

 

Fourth-seeded Taconic (15-6) is home on Monday to face No. 13 Pembroke (14-7), a 79-67 winner over Pembroke on Thursday night.
