How to See State Title Basketball Games In-Person, Online

Area high school basketball fans have two options to see the Taconic boys and Wahconah girls play for state championships this weekend.

 

Fans either can drive to Lowell to attend the games in person or watch them digitally through the National Federation of High School Sports network.

 

All 10 state championship games in five divisions -- boys and girls -- will be played at UMass Lowell's Tsongas Center starting Friday evening with a double-header.

 

The Taconic boys will play at 4 p.m. on Saturday, one of four games that day, in the Division 5 Championship Game against David Prouty.

 

The Wahconah girls hit the court on Sunday at 4 p.m., again, the third of four games that day, to play Cathedral of Boston in the Division 4 final.

 

Tickets will be sold for each of the three daily sessions at a price of $15 per person (plus fees) and are available through the Tsongas Center box office's website.

 

A ticket is good for the entire day at the arena -- the 5:30 double-header on Friday and four games starting at noon on Saturday and Sunday. But re-entry is not allowed to the arena on the day of the game.

 

On Sunday, there are two other games of note to Western Massachusetts fans. The Springfield International Charter School girls play at noon in the D5 title game; the SICS boys play at 2 for the D4 championship.

 

Parking this weekend will cost $10 per car according to the Tsongas Center box office on Thursday morning.

 

If you cannot make the trip east, the NFHS Network will offer video feeds of all 10 games for paid subscribers. A monthly subscription costs $11.99 per month; an annual subscription costs $79.99 per year (the equivalent of $6.67 per month).

 

Both games will be broadcast live on the radio by WBEC-AM in Pittsfield.
