Darian Tovani Leads Hornets into Sectional Quarter-Finals

GRANBY, Mass. -- Darian Tovani scored 13 points to lead three McCann Tech boys basketball players in double figures Monday as the Hornets earned a 52-45 win over Granby in the first round of the Western Massachusetts Division 4 tournament.

 

"We made winning plays down the stretch, led by Bruce Davis, who hit two consecutive 3s with two minutes left in the fourth," McCann Tech coach Chris Bullett sai.

 

Davis finished with 11, and Keeghan Vidal had 10 as the Hornets improved to 15-6 this season and won their third straight.

 

"Darian Tovani played great and made clutch free throws with a minute left to seal it," Bullett said. "I'm proud of our guys for fighting in a tough environment and staying composed to get the win."

 

Eleventh-seeded McCann Tech Thursday makes a shorter trip to face No. 3 Drury (16-5) in the sectional quarter-finals.
