As graduation season intersects the spring sports season, we recognize a couple of seniors who have been doing A-plus work throughout the year for their teams.

No team has been tougher to score on this spring than the Pittsfield softball team.

In a 19-0 campaign, the Generals have allowed just 25 runs -- a paltry 1.3 runs per game.

Senior pitcher Giuliana Pierce has been dominant and never more so as the team heads to the post-season.

This week, she shut out 2017 Western Mass Division 1 semi-finalist Northampton and 2017 D1 quarter-finalist Chicopee Comp -- giving her four shutouts in Pittsfield's last six games.

The Generals figure to get a bye into the quarters of this year's sectional tournament when the seedings are announced on Tuesday in Greenfield.

The McCann Tech baseball team also will be looking for a top seed when those pairings come out.

The Hornets (20-2) have won four straight, including two wins this week in the State Vocational Small School Division Tournament.

In Friday's state championship game, Tower went 2-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and accounted for three runs, in three different at-bats, as the Horents came back from a 3-1 deficit to win, 4-3.

Tower also had a big defensive play in Friday's win, popping out from behind the plate to snag a popped up bunt in foul territory.

On a McCann Tech squad loaded with pitchers, the senior catcher has a team-best 30 RBIs and is batting .372.
