Mazza Leads McCann Tech to Win in Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Walter Mazza scored 23 points Tuesday to lead the McCann Tech boys basketball team to a 63-50 win over Pioneer Valley Christian Academy in the Hornets' season opener.

 

"Good win tonight," McCann Tech coach Chris Bullett said. "Walter Mazza had an outstanding game. It was an all-around team win."

 

Eric Rougeau scored 13 points for the Hornets, who took a 32-19 lead into half-time.

 

Jacob Howland and Hayden Boucher added nine and six points, respectively. Nine different Hornets put a mark in the scorebook.

 

McCann Tech (1-0) hosts Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter on Friday.
