Granby Tops Drury Boys in OT
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Gavier Fernandez scored 17 points Saturday to lead the Granby boys basketball team to a 62-60 win over Drury in the Western Massachusetts Class C Championship Game.
Fernandez scored eight points in the fourth quarter, when the Rams outscored Drury, 24-21, to force overtime.
Raymond Colon scored three of his 13 points in OT for Granby as it outscored the Blue Devils, 7-5 in the extra session.
Drury’s Jorge Bond tied for game-high honors with 17 points.
Sam Moorman went 10-for-15 at the free throw line for 15 points, and Sam Bullett hit four 3-pointers and scored 13 for the Blue Devils.
Drury (15-6) Saturday morning was installed as the No. 4 seed in the Division 5 State Tournament that gets underway this week. The Blue Devils await the winner of a play-in game between No. 36 Boston Prep Charter and No. 29 Mount Everett.
