Polumbo, Lescarbeau Earn Athlete of the Week Honors
This week's iBerkshires.com Athletes of the Week have helped their teams pick up where they left off as they look to build on last spring's success.
Sarah Polumbo was the leading scorer on a 2022 Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team that won the program's first Western Massachusetts Championship.
She scored more than 100 goals as junior and is tied for the team lead with nine goals through two games as a senior.
She also holds the team lead in assists with four in a balanced Mount Greylock attack that already has seven players with at least two goals this spring.
In Thursday's rematch with 2022 Western Mass finalist Granby, Polumbo again tied teammate Ainsley Abel with four goals apiece ina n 18-8 win.
Mount Greylock has a busy week ahead with three games, starting with a road trip to Sringfield on Monday to take on Pope Francis.
Nick Lescarbeau last year was integral in a late season surge that saw the Drury baseball team win its last three regular season games to help overcome a 3-5 start and qualify for the state tournament.
There has been no slow start for the Blue Devils this year.
Drury is 3-0 behind a stingy staff of pitchers who have allowed just two earned runs to date.
Lescarbeau has appeared in two games, including a start and a win in the opener, and has allowed one run in nine innings for an ERA of .780.
At the plate, he leads Drury with a .455 batting average and has a team-high six RBIs.
Drury continues a run of seven home games to open the season on Tuesday when it takes on crosstown rival McCann Tech at Joe Wolfe Field.
