In honor of the Winter Olympics, we honor a couple of Olympic sport athletes with this week's iBerkshires.com/Southwestern Vermont Health Care Athlete of the Week awards.

It has been a rough season for the area's high school Nordic skiers just to be able to compete.

With the state championship meet just a couple of weeks away, the Berkshire County Nordic League has held just a couple of meets.

But Wahconah senior Quinn Walton has made the most of two chances on her home course.

In the season opener, she placed eighth to help her team place third in the five-team league.

A week later, she finished third as Wahconah finished on top of the team leader board.

This week, the cross country stars will look to capitalize on the time they have left in the regular season with a rare midweek after-school date in Dalton on Wednesday before finishing the regular season at Mount Greylock on Saturday.

Drury's hockey team started this week with a heart-breaking road loss in a Sunday matinee at Amherst.

But the ten days prior was highlighted by a pair of wins over Berkshire County rivals -- at Wahconah and home against Mount Everett -- to give the Blue Devils local bragginng rights.

David Delisle scored four goals in the win over the Eagles and had a goal in Sunday's loss to Belchertown.

"He came to play," Drury coach Derek Durocher said of Delisle after Wednesday's win. "When he's firing on all cylinders and going hard to the net and having a really strong puck focus, David DeLisle can be one of the best players in the league."

Delisle and his Drury teammates will look to get back on the winning track and back to the .500 mark on Wednesday when they host Chicopee Comp.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Southwestern Vermont Health Care.
