LEE, Mass. -- Evan Heath scored 30 points Monday to lead the Lee boys basketball team to a 64-61 win over Mount Everett.

The Wildcats trailed by one at half-time, but turned things around and overcame a big setback when big man Collin O’Brien fouled out late.

“Jack Purcell really stepped up big when Collin O’Brien fouled out,” Lee coach Eric Cardinal said. “He and Tag Roosa’s effort in the last three minutes defensively was huge for the whole team. Very proud of the intensity they brought into the final stages of the game.”

O’Brien bowed out with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Cole Redstone added eight points.

But the biggest night belonged to Heath -- who excelled at both ends of the floor.

“Evan Heath continued to stay hot,’ Cardinal said. “Hitting five 3-pointers and contributing for a total of 30 points. I was more impressed with his defensive efforts in the second half and his attacking the hoop offensively.”

Michael Ullrich scored 12 points for Mount Everett, which got 11 points apiece from Kolby Bleau and Jack Carpenter.

The Eagles (1-7) are at Housatonic Valley, Conn., on Friday.

Lee (3-3) goes to Mount Greylock on Thursday.
