NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Matt Stracuzzi led all scorers with 19 points as the Taconic boys basketball team cruised to a 63-26 victory over Drury on Thursday night.
Stracuzzi was on fire from downtown, hitting six 3-pointers, including four in the fourth quarter.
Treyvon Ringgold had 14 points, while Izaiya Mestre added eight.
Both teams struggled to score early on, but Taconic (11-2), was able to get on track and end the first quarter with a 8-2 lead.
For Drury (7-6), Chad Lawrence lead the team with nine points, and both Bryce Webb and Hayden Bird finished with 4.
This was Lawrence’s first game playing on varsity, and he made a nice impact for the team.
It was all Taconic in this game as it got off the early lead and never looked back. It took a 26-11 lead into the break and continued to add as the game went on. Drury was without starting point guard Reece Racette and had trouble with the Taconic pressure all game long.
Drury will head on the road to play Brattleboro Saturday. Taconic will face Wahconah on the road next Friday.
