NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Simon Nassif scored 21 points to lead the Pittsfield High School boys basketball team to a 72-68 win over Drury on Monday night.
Nassif played well down low scoring 11 points in the third quarter to help give Pittsfield High School a five-point lead going into the fourth.
“Our focus really was on trying to get to the rack, because we thought our length gave us some advantages inside,” Pittsfield coach Steve Ray said.
Connor McDonough chipped in with 17 of his own for Pittsfield (5-4), and Louis Higuera hit a big foul shot down the stretch to maintain the lead.
For Drury High School (7-1), Both Alex Heck and Hayden Bird scored 20 points, but came up just short.
This was the first loss of the season for the Blue Devils after winning 7 straight.
This was a hard fought battle by both teams leading to a close finish at the end. Drury never had the lead, but kept the score close going on multiple runs throughout the game. After being down by seven at half, the Blue Devils went on to cut the lead to one, giving themselves the change to take the lead with only seconds on the clock. A big rebound and some clutch free throws saw Pittsfield close this game out.
Drury will hit the road for the first time this year to play the Hoosac Valley Hurricanes Thursday night. Pittsfield will play on the road against Lenox next Wednesday.
