GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Khalil Carlson Thursday scored 30 points to lead the Monument Mountain boys basketball team to a 73-48 win over Hoosac Valley.
The Spartans put the game away in the second half after taking a 36-32 lead into the locker room at half-time.
“We got some good pressure on them after we were down 5-2 then went on 20-0 run,” Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. “Hoosac did not give in and cut the lead in the second quarter to three.
“We were up 5 at half time and did a great job in the 2nd half limiting Hoosac to 17 points. Kyle Wellenkamp and Khalil Carlson played outstanding defense and we got a big spark from Isaiah Keefner in the fourth quarter.”
Wellenkamp scored 13 points, and Griffin McElroy scored nine in the win.
Hoosac Valley (1-1) got 12 points from Qwanell Bradley and nine from Adan Wicks.
The Hurricanes go to Baystate on Monday.
