NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Jared Nawoichik scored 28 points Tuesday to lead the Upper Cape Tech boys basketball team to a 67-40 win over McCann Tech in the preliminary round of the Division 5 state tournament.
For the second time in three days, the Rams jumped out to a fast start and never looked back, this time taking a 19-5 lead after one quarter.
On Sunday, Upper Cape beat the Hornets in the championship game of the State Vocational tournament.
On Tuesday, Landon Champney led the Hornets with eight points, and Cole Boisvert and Walter Mazza scored six apiece as McCann Tech ended its season at 13-10.
Upper Cape Tech moves on to Friday’s round of 32 matchup against top-seeded Taconic.
