CHESHIRE, Mass. – Carson Meczywor and Joey McGovern Monday each scored 17 points to lead the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team to a 71-37 win over Mount Everett in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class D tournament.
Caleb Harrington hit four 3-pointers and scored 13 points in the second quarter on the way to a 13-point night, and Frank Field scored 14.
“After a relatively tight first half [34-24 at half-time] Hoosac was led by Frank Field’s eight third-quarter points that opened up the game, jumping up 52-31,” Hoosac Valley coach Bill Robinson said. “Our defense tightened up in the second half, wearing a game Mount Everett group and holding them to 13 points.”
Matt Lowe scored 11 points, and Michael Ullrich added 10 for the Eagles (10-9).
Hoosac Valley (13-6) hosts Hopkins Academy on Wednesday in the regional semi-finals.
