NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Louis Guillotte scored 15 points, and Tim Brazeau added 14 Thursday to lead the Drury boys basketball team to a 68-35 win over Mahar.

Ben Moulton added 13, including two 3-pointers in the first quarter, to help get the Drury offense going.

The Blue Devils (10-4) got out to a 6-0 lead and forced Mahar into an early timeout. It wasn’t the cleanest game by either team, but Drury was able to jump out to an early lead and never look back. It outscored the Senators, 16-4, in the first quarter but had plenty that they could work on going forward.

“We just need to be disciplined, and get our defensive rotation down,” Drury coach Jack Racette said. “We didn’t find bodies tonight and it’s going to cost us down the stretch, we have to rebound. We played a lot of zone in the first half, trying to make Tim dominate the boards, which he can do, but we just need to find bodies.”

Even with the rebounding struggles and unforced turnovers, Drury continued to put the pressure on Mahar. It really pushed the tempo any chance they could and at times caused some havoc for both teams, but Drury was able to find the baskets with some help from Brazeau, who was able to knock down a few shots in the second quarter to keep the offense going.

The Blue Devils finished the half up, 30-11, leaving the second half for Drury to maybe practice some stuff for future games to come. Mahar came out for the second half with more energy and finally started to get their offense going.

Will Barnes led the visitors with 17 points, eight of which he scored in the third quarter.

Drury lived at the line going 6-for-8 from the stripe, all from senior Ben Moulton and from that point on it was time to get some subs in and see what different things they could work on going forward.

“It’s nice to play a different color jersey and a team that is going to compete,” Racette said. “They have a great program, and a great coach but they are young, so it was nice to work on some stuff.”

This was a nice win for Drury as they head into the weekend and get ready to host Hopkins on Monday night. They played the Eagles earlier this week and lost by six, so you know the Blue Devils are ready for revenge and will look to improve as the regular season comes to an end.
