DALTON, Mass. — Wahconah's Jessica Jones scored with just less than 2 minutes to play to tie Mount Greylock, 42-42, and that is where the season's final Berkshire County Unified Basketball game ended in Ed Ladley Gymnasium.
Brock Prett scored 12 points, and Sam Iovieno scored 10 to lead Wahconah, which took the season series from its county rival, 3-1-1.
Devika Sharma scored a game-high 18, and Aidan Barnes added 12 for Mount Greylock, which overcame a 14-point deficit in the first half.
Wahconah opened that lead with a 12-2 run to start the second quarter.
Tony Marra (eight points) started the run when he pulled down a defensive rebound and went the other way for a lay-up to make it 18-12.
Iovieno scored six points during the run. And Tony and Dillon Marra each scored a pair. Iovieno hit a baseline jumper to make it 28-14 midway through the quarter.
Moments later, Jason Jaros started Mount Greylock's comeback by putting back an offensive rebound. Sharma then scored six straight points to get the margin down to 28-22 at half-time.
The Mounties continued their comeback in the third, outscoring Wahconah 10-4 in the quarter. The last four Mount Greylock points came from Barnes, who tied the game, 32-32.
Mount Greylock pulled ahead, 40-36, midway through the fourth. But Brock Prett scored in post for Wahconah to stop a 6-0 Mountie run. Prett then scored again to tie the game, 40-40.
Sharma scored in the post with 2:20 on the clock to give Mount Greylock its last lead at 42-40, setting the stage for Jones' tying bucket.
Unified Basketball is an initiative of Special Olympics which creates combined teams of special education students and regular ed students for co-ed interscholastic competitions.
