PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Scott McGuire Jr. scored 27 points Friday to lead the Drury boys basketball team to a 55-52 win over Pittsfield.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a 13-3 lead after one quarter and held off a Pittsfield comeback bid in the second half.
“We made a strong stand defensively, which got us going on offense in the third,” Pittsfield coach Brandon Mauer said. “By the fourth, we made a push to get back in the game, pushing it to a three-point deficit with about a minute to go. We turned it over, one possession in the final minute and took a contested 3 early in the shot clock that forced us to foul and put McGuire on the line, and he made both.”
Tim Brazeau scored 10 points for Drury, which got back to the .500 mark for the season with the win.
La’Quan Brown scored 20 points, and Craig Jackson had 18 for Pittsfield.
The Generals (4-6) host Lenox on Tuesday.
Drury (5-5) hosts Monument Mountain on Wednesday.
