CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Kevin Huban scored a game-high 21 points, including eight in the fourth quarter to help the Wahconah boys basketball team pull away for a 62-52 win over Hoosac Valley.
Huban went 4-for-4 at the foul line in the fourth quarter as Wahconah outscored Hoosac, 16-5, to erase a 47-46 deficit.
“I’m extremely proud of our collective effort tonight,” Hoosac Valley coach Dave Harte said. “The guys shared the ball, competed on the glass and stayed together.
“Huban is a complete guard who finishes with both hands In transition, and I thought their role players were effective getting second chances and keeping possessions alive. Both teams competed on every possession. The bottom line is we get one shot, and we have to fight like crazy to keep them from second and third chances.”
Tom O’Connor scored 12, and Luke Hescock added eight for Wahconah.
Hoosac Valley was led by Izaha Stubbs and Casey Meczywor, who scored 15 points apiece.
The Hurricanes (5-11) go to Mount Greylock on Monday.
Wahconah (13-3) has won four straight going into Tuesday’s game at Taconic.
