CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Izaha Stubbs scored 11 of his game-high 22 points in the third quarter, and the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team scored 48 in the second half en route to a 66-51 win over Lee on Wednesday night.

Lee led early, going to the locker room with a 27-18 advantage, but the Hurricanes stepped up their defense en route to their third straight victory.

“Lee jumped out 27-11 thanks to the dynamic duo of [Myles] Whitney-Nason and Ben Harding,” Hoosac Valley coach David Harte said. “We called time out to try and keep it under 10 at half. We went to a zone due to foul trouble and that helped keep them in check a bit.

“In the second half, we pressed the entire half and gutted out an important win. Stubbs almost had a triple double and it was a total team win. Sam Larabee played lockdown defense all game.”

Whitney-Nason scored 19, and Harding added 15 for the Wildcats.

Larabee and Joe Delmolino scored 12 and 10, respectively, for the Hurricanes, who got eight points from Casey Meczywor.

The Hurricanes also got a lift from their fans.

“The student body was incredible tonight,” Harte said. “They were a big part of the comeback. The half-time speech was all about character and overcoming adversity. We proved we have character.”
Hoosac Valley (4-1) gets another home game on Saturday night against Mount Greylock.

Lee (1-2) goes to Turners Falls on Friday.
