NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Drury boys basketball team Monday flew past Lenox, 76-57, in a high-scoring affair.

Reece Racette led the way for the Blue Devils (2-1) with 20 points, while Scott McGuire chipped in with 16.

For Lenox (0-3) Averin Paradise scored a game-high 22, and Andre Collins added 20.

The Blue Devils came out blazing in their home opener. Drury’s full court pressure forced Lenox into an early timeout after seven unanswered points. Drury continued that fast-paced play, causing issues all game long for Lenox. Drury took a 20-8 lead at the end of the quarter.

The Blue Devils had 13 offensive rebounds to help keep plays alive in the first half alone. This is something coach Jack Racette would like to see continue as well as improve on the defensive end.

“We need to get better rebounding,” he said. “Were going to run into bigger teams and when teams get us into the half court sets it doesn’t matter who is in the game and we are getting beat on the boards, we have some work to do with our rebounding.”

Drury finished the half up 43-26 and did not look back the rest of the game.

It started the second half similar to the first with a quick 6-0 run. One thing that helps with this high intensity game plan is being able to count on your bench. Drury was able to make quick subs to help keep guys fresh.

“We are starting to find our rotation right now, I say we are nine almost 10 deep,” Racette said. "We are getting back into shape, and having guys when you pressure like this is huge, We ran into some problems last year as game went on we got tired. If we are going to play this style we can’t get tired.”

Lenox made a run of it own in the fourth quarter, but it wouldn’t be enough to get back in the game.

Lenox will look to get its first win of the season on Wednesday at home against Hoosac Valley. Drury they will go on the road to Taconic on Thursday.
