Franklin Tech Holds Off Lenox in Division 5

TURNERS FALLS, Mass. – Kaitlin Trudeau went 4-for-5 with a double and a pair of RBIs Tuesday to lead the Franklin Tech softball team to a 10-5 win over Lenox in the Division 5 State Tournament Round of 16.
 
Fifth-seeded Franklin Tech (20-2) advances to meet the winner of Wednesday’s game between Wareham and No. 4 Georgetown in the state quarter-finals.
 
The Millionaires trailed all afternoon on Tuesday after the Eagles scored three times in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead.
 
Lenox came close late, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth to make it 8-5 when Evelyn Julieano singled to drive in Anna Nealon.
 
Grace Julieano then bunted her way on base to load the bases with one out in a three-run game.
 
But Franklin Tech pitcher Hannah Gilbert got a strikeout and a groundout to end the rally.
 
Evelyn Julieano led Lenox’s offense with two hits, including a double.
 
She also went the distance in the circle for the Millionaires.
 
Lenox finishes the season with a record of 12-10.
